My name is Renata Carneiro and I’m originally from Brazil. I’m a food engineer with Masters degree in Food Science and Technology and MBA in Project Management. I worked for a few years in the food industry and accumulated some experience in research, development, and improvement of food products, quality assurance and control, food safety, sensory evaluation, and consumer studies. I’m currently a first year PhD student in the Department of Food Science and Technology at Virginia Tech, and work as Graduate Research Assistant in a multi-state and multidisciplinary USDA Specialty Crop Research Initiative project on developing domestic (Virginia) edamame (vegetable soybean) sources. I’m also Teaching Assistant for Food Microbiology Lab and affiliated with the Water INTERface Interdisciplinary Graduate Education Programs (IGEP) at VT.
