Steph Cooke (she/they) is a Ph.D. student in Human Development at Virginia Tech. Her research focuses on social network support prior to and entering motherhood for Black queer mothers. Steph approaches research from a Black feminist lens and considers the intersections between identity in relational processes. Through their dissertation work, Steph is examining how transition to motherhood impacts Black queer mother’s social support. Additionally, Steph has their master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and currently holds a clinical associate license in N.C.
