Over the years I have had the pleasure of being a teaching assistant (TA) and filling in for lectures. I have TAed both graduate and undergraduate course. These class sizes have been on the order of 30 to 70 students. I have filled in for quite a few structural steel design courses when my advisers was out of town. I also led the discussion/lab for the design of structural concretes class. Here I lectured/reviewed for the first half of the class and then worked on example problems with the students.
I have been a TA for the following courses:
- Design of Structural Steel- Spring 2014, 2015
- Design of Structural Concrete – Spring 2017
- Theory of Structures – Fall 2017
- Computer Methods of Structural Analysis- Fall 2017
I really enjoy teaching and this is part of the reason I am getting into academia. As a student I know how difficult it can be to grasp a concept/material and I want to use the insight to become a great professor. I find it really rewarding to see when I can help make a difference and help the students understand the material.
