Poetry in public place, VTLibrary’s initiatives

A quick followup on the future of the university post about giving humanities the space and attention it deserves. I have seen these stickers on different floors of the Newman library and I thought it an innovative way of connecting with the students. In this particular case the occasion is national poetry month but in my opinion VT library has had a number of good ideas about inspiring thought and conversation in public spaces on campus.  The southern hallway of Newman’s 4th floor has been the site of book displays (in black history month), Free writing boards and a small painting gallery at other times. These are good examples of how we can bring knowledge (including science), art and thinking out of the classrooms and into everyday life.
