MOOCs Challenge to Higher Education

My issue with MOOCs are who will be in those classes for the long term. Right now, people chose to participate in MOOCs. Will it evolve to it just being underrepresented students? That is what has occured with for-profit education. For profits (online education) originally recruited working professional who were predominantly white, male and middle class. Now, for profits enroll Black, Latino and low income students at a higher rate than most Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). Those students are leaving these institutions with tremendous debt and no degrees. MOOCs need to be watched carefully. Does it really increase access and if so, access to who?
