Transformative Graduate Education (TGE) is an initiative developed in 2003 by Dr. Karen P. DePauw, Vice President and Dean for Graduate Education at Virginia Tech. The purpose is to provide opportunities and programs which better prepare VT graduate students for academic careers and careers outside higher education.  These include courses on topics such as Future Professoriate, Contemporary Pedagogy, Citizen Scholar, Career Professional, Interdisciplinary Research, Global Perspectives, Communicating Science and more.  Students can earn a graduate certificate entitled the Future Professoriate.  For more information, see TGE on the Graduate School’s website.
