Given a sheet of Bristol and a 1/2″ diameter dowel rod and a choice of one other material, all first year students had to “make a 3D construct no longer than 8″ in cubic volume” that demonstrated
- relationship of interior to exterior
- structure versus non-structure
- how materials connect
With a week to build each design, I started with test models that I thought represented the 3 main criteria.
The final model, in the gallery below, uses sewing thread as the 3rd material to hold the Bristol in place on the dowel.
