This website uses an open-source personal publishing platform called WordPress. Menu headings were suggested by staff of Learning Technologies and CIDER. Content includes material written by members of the Task Force on Instructional Technologies and invited contributors.
There are three primary means of navigating this site:
- Menus. The top-level headings have several sub-headings available as drop-down menus. Clicking on any of these headings or sub-headings takes you directly to a specific page.
- Tag Cloud. For the Home page as well as for each top-level heading, a tag cloud may be found in the upper-right-hand corner. These tags represent keywords assigned to pages by the site administrators. Many keywords are assigned to multiple pages. Clicking on a tag takes the viewer to a page displaying excerpts from all the pages tagged with this keyword. Navigating by tag thus enables a conceptual/thematic approach to the content. Size of tag indicates frequency of use. An underscore is used to enable the use of phrases as tags: e.g., “deep_learning.” To enhance serendipity, the tag cloud is randomized each time the page is refreshed.
- Search. A search box is available on the side of the home page and each top-level heading page. The viewer may search on any text across the entire site.
