Virginia Tech’s HTM program was recently ranked #2 in the country and #6 in the World! The program has always been in the top 10 programs nationwide, and is constantly working to be the best.
HTM students aren’t the only hospitable ones at Virginia Tech! The entire campus embraces a hospitable culture, including the best on campus dining, the Inn at Virginia Tech, and being ranked as the best quality of life!
A unique aspect of Virginia Tech’s HTM Department is that it is located in the Pamplin College of Business. By graduating with a business degree, the opportunities are endless. Each graduate will take the same core business classes as the rest of the college, which is highly sought after by recruiters.
Part of the HTM program is the requirement of industry experience. Every student must have 300 hours of general hospitality experience, followed by 400 hours of a specific field study. This means that when you graduate you have 700 hours under your belt already, so you will feel comfortable working in the real world. Also, HTM has some of the highest job placement on campus so you’ll have no worries after graduation!
We have our own career fair!
The HTM Department has its own career fair, Destinations. Over 40 companies attend each spring to hire students for part time jobs, internships, and full-time opportunities in each area of hospitality and tourism management. Speak to companies like Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Great American Restaurants, and the best country clubs all in one place.
Hokie Alumni are everywhere!
The Hokie Nation reaches across the globe, and HTM graduates are no different. Our alumni love to hire other Hokies, and they work at the top hospitality companies The department also hosts their Advisory Board once a semester, who are made up of industry executives and professionals who have years of experience and knowledge to help students.
