March 16-18th- Virginia Tech Hospitality & Management students attended the 27th Annual Hunter Hotel Investment Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Department Head Dr. Nancy McGehee and Professor Rick Parsons took undergraduates Ashley Neal, Kristen Halo, Kevin Bailey, Alfred Lam, Edward deDecker, and Real Estate student Gabriella Velo.
The conference is considered one of the top hotel investment conferences in the nation, and focuses on hotel real estate and finance that’s designed for hotel owners and investors. Some of the topics that were covered in the conference are: Hotel lending, buying and selling hotels, hotel development, PIPS, renovations, and asset management. The conference was a great way to build on the material HTM students learn in their Hospitality Finance and Revenue Management classes.
Along with the conference, the group also toured the Atlanta Marriott Marquis back of house and The Ritz Carlton in Atlanta.
