Hello,
I am currently serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA at Pocahontas Memorial Hospital and hope that you can assist me in letting students at your school know about an opportunity now available at our hospital.
Just two years ago I was getting ready to graduate with my undergrad degree in Biology and I had no idea what I was going to do next. Thankfully I found AmeriCorps. AmeriCorps has several volunteer programs for recent graduates looking to give back to the community.
AmeriCorps VISTA opportunities are one year commitments where one can really influence communities and those in poverty. During the one year, AmeriCorps provides training, health insurance, and a living stipend. On completion of the year, one can be awarded an end of service stipend or an educational award to help pay back college loans or to pay for further education.
I was so impacted by my AmeriCorps position that I decided to stay for an additional year. Because of my experience with AmeriCorps, I have gained strong leadership skills, made positive differences in the community, and experienced opportunities I never would have dreamed of. I have been able to find what I was truly passionate about and will attend the University of Virginia to pursue a graduate degree in nursing in May.
I am now trying to recruit new future leaders that would like to commit to making a difference. Please see the attached flyer. VISTA Flyer
Please let me know if you have any questions,
Cecilia
