AMSA Convention

On behalf of AMSA’s student leaders and national staff, I want to extend a special invitation to you and your students to join us for the annual AMSA National Convention, February 26 – March 1, 2015, in Washington, DC, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City.

This year, the AMSA Convention kicks off on Thursday, February 26, with the AMSA Advocacy and Rally Day

With a focus on student debt, the Rally will feature Dr. Atul Grover, MD, PhD, Chief Public Policy Officer for the AAMC.

The Rally will be followed by Advocacy Day appointments with Congressional Representatives on Capital Hill. Advocacy training in the morning will prepare students for effective and engaging interactions with their Representatives on the topics of student dept, women’s reproductive health, and R&D funding for new antibiotics. This is an incredible opportunity for premedical students to begin engaging in advocacy on social and health policy!

Friday’s Convention schedule includes MCAT Jeopardy, “Interview Like a Ninja” med school interview consultations, and the annual AMSA Poster Session and Project Exhibition ( Premedical students are especially encouraged to submit an abstract for their research or project – the AMSA Poster Session is unique in our view that it is a wonderful development opportunity for presentation and engagement skills. Many of our accepted presenters are presenting a poster for their first time! Cash prizes are awarded to the top poster in each submission category. Abstracts are due January 18, 2015.

Saturday’s highlights will include a keynote address by Dr. Zubin Damania (aka, ZDoggMD), a full day of “Ninja” med school interview consultations, and many clinical skills workshops including airway management, suturing, casting, and manual vacuum aspiration (mva)!

Please pass along the text, below, to your students. We’ve created a special registration discount code that you can share with them, PMA2015, which they can use when registering to get $100 off. The discount code is good through February 1.
