Passed Doctoral prelims and proposal defense

-Trained in EMDR
-Trained in CBT Foundations course from the Beck Institute
– Developed a lecture on “Working with Individuals and Families Living with Disability in a Mental Health Setting: A Social Model Perspective” and was invited to give a lecture at Converse College, SC, which went great!
– Working on several research papers with a few publications coming very soon!
All members of our brilliant 2018 cohort have passed their preliminary exams!  Congratulations, Steph, Deneisha, Allie, Sami, and Jessica!!

Congratulations to Diana Devine and Casey MacGregor who both successfully defended their masters theses on Monday, December 3rd!!

Diana’s thesis is, “Mothers’ and Fathers’ Differential Discussion of Emotion with their School-Age Children”

Casey’s thesis is, “Young Mothers in Appalachia: Meanings of Help from Family”

Congrats to you both on obtaining your masters degree! Now on to doctorate work!

NCFR Award

Congrats to Amy Morgan, who along with her co-first author Jessica Goodman of East Carolina University, won the “Best Student Research Paper Award” from the Family Therapy Section at the 2018 National Council for Family Relations Conference in San Diego, California.

The paper, published in the Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, emphasizes the importance of social and political advocacy in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy. The paper serves as a call to action and a starting point for all MFTs, across all settings and experience, to participate in public policy for consumers and the profession alike. Congrats Amy!

Prelim Defense
