Life Science and Scholarly Communication Librarian Virginia “Ginny” Pannabecker presents Opening Knowledge poster at VT’s 2015 Advancing Diversity Workshop
The twelfth annual Advancing Diversity at Virginia Tech workshop was held on Monday, January 12, 2015, at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center. A large contingent of VT University Librarians attended, and one of them, Ginny Pannabecker, presented a poster featuring ways the University Libraries support open data, research, publishing, teaching, and conferences.
Ginny, who works in the Scholarly Communications Unit, is one of a number of our librarians promoting Open Access. Philip Young writes the Open@VT blog (https://blogs.lt.vt.edu/openvt/), and organizes VT’s Open Access Week; Andi Ogier and Natsuko Nicholls produce the Data@VT Blog (http://datablog.lib.vt.edu/aboutus/), and organize the Data Book Camp; and Anita Walz created and updates the Open Educational Resource Guide (http://guides.lib.vt.edu/oer).
Open Education Week is scheduled for the week of February 23rd-27th (http://guides.lib.vt.edu/oer/oeweek), and more information can be found on the Open Access website (http://www.lib.vt.edu/openaccess/).
(Thanks to Natsuko Nicholls for the photos of Ginny and her poster.)
