  • The Computer Is More Modern Than We Thought.

It’s hard to imagine life without the computer. It has become such a central part of our lives as human beings that it would be almost impossible to live without. The article in The New Media Reader entitled “Inventing the Medium” by Janet H. Murray states that “the computer is simply the largest medium human beings have ever invented.” The computer seems to have all of the answers. Whenever we have a question or concern the first thing people think to do is Google it. How have we become conditioned to do so? It was as if it was a gradual process we were unaware of. A recent episode of modern family addresses this issue. The Dunphy’s decide that their family has become to computer dependent. In order to become less computer dependent they set a rule of no computers for 1 week. Without the use of the computer the Dunphy’s daughter, Alex, gets a poor grade on a research paper. Instead of the use of internet for information she must use outdated encyclopedias at the library for information. This just proves that the computer has truly become one of the most reliable sources at our disposal.
