The Travel Fund Program (TFP) is the GSA’s most popular program, and is sponsored by the Graduate School and the Virginia Tech Office of the Provost. TFP provides partial grants to cover graduate student conference travel (this includes transportation, registration fees, lodging, and meals). All graduate students — traveling within the U.S. or internationally — are eligible to apply. The program also can be used to support international travel.
The fall TFP cycle covers travel between July 1st and December 31st, and the spring cycle covers trips between January 1st and June 30th.
This means that, if you attend a conference in March of 2018, for instance, you could be eligible for some reimbursement through the Travel Fund Program.
Our spring TFP cycle is now closed. Don’t worry: another cycle will open mid-Fall 2018.
This past spring, we awarded 189 graduate students $49,355 for their travels. Furthermore, the program had a 91% acceptance rate! This means that, if you apply, you’ll probably get something. We encourage you to take advantage of this!
