The spring funding cycle will open April 4-11, 2017.
The Travel Fund Program (TFP) is the GSA’s most popular program. The GSA strives to address the needs of Virginia Tech graduate students, and the TFP is designed to meet these needs by providing graduate students some financial assistance for presenting at scholarly conferences. Grants through TFP are partial reimbursements for travel, and all graduate students — traveling within the U.S. or internationally — are eligible to apply. Some eligible expenses include: travel expenses (ex: planes, trains, automobiles), registration fees, lodging, meals, and other miscellaneous expenses. The program also can be used to support international travel. The Spring 2017 cycle of TFP covers trips between January 1st and June 30th of this year. The program is sponsored by the Graduate School and the Virginia Tech Office of the Provost.
Application link will be posted here on April 4th, 2017.
The following table will give you an idea of how much funding you will receive, based on (1) how far you are traveling, or the straight distance from Blacksburg to your destination, and (2) the 1-day M&IE (Meals & Incidental Expenses) and lodging rates for your location. M&IE rates are calculated by the General Services Administration.
Please be aware that you will need your advisor’s approval to apply for TFP. Here is the Advisor Approval Form:
Although we are not requiring applicants to submit receipts for the application, you must save receipts for reimbursement from your department.
