I was really amazed to know about Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). I have some interesting incidences to share. I am from India and I did my under graduation and graduation from Delhi, which is the capital city. In my college, university staff and administrators used to send letters to parents in case their “child” was not performing well or was “misbehaving” in or around campus. It was weird to be labeled as a child when you are 22 or 23. You are expected to vote and choose who will have the nuclear codes for your nukes at 18 but you cannot be trusted to take corrective actions for bad grades or your misdemeanor is reported to your parents instead of police.
They were particularly harsh if they see a boy or girl migling too much.
