Amber Litterer – Social Co-Chair

Who are you? What do you do?
Hi there! I’m Amber and I’m a master’s student in the Ford Lab. I’m using acoustic detectors to determine the presence or absence of threatened and endangered bat species across several state parks in Maryland.

What’s your favorite aspect of your research?
As delirious as it makes me feel, I enjoy late nights in the field and seeing what insects and eye shine I can spot. Coming across spider mommas with an abdomen covered in 800 baby eyes twinkling in my headlamp is pretty magical.

Your favorite Blacksburg activity!
I love to go bird watching around Blacksburg! The woodcocks at Heritage Park are always a treat to see and hear.
