Teaching has always been a favorite job of mine.  I spent five semesters of my undergraduate years teaching college algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus to students at the Math Lab on campus.  It was rewarding to work one-on-one with students to help them understand mathematical concepts.  I also spent five semesters combined between my undergraduate and graduate years as a teaching assistant.  I would lead one or two classes a week in concept reviews and, in some cases, laboratory activities.  That gave me an opportunity to see how it felt to be in front of a group of my peers and attempt to teach difficult concepts.  I always looked forward to working with the students, which is why I want to be an educator and mentor to the next generation of civil engineering students.


  • Math 112: infinite limits and differential calculus
    • Teaching Assistant for one semester
    • Taught two one-hour classes each week with the purpose of reviewing material covered during lecture
    • Graded homework and provided feedback on assignments
    • Held office hours to tutor students one-on-one

  • CEEn 341: Elementary Soil Mechanics
    • Teaching Assistant for one semester
    • Taught one three-hour laboratory class each week with the purpose of teaching laboratory skills and reviewing concepts from lecture
    • Graded laboratory reports and provided feedback focused on technical writing skills
    • Held office hours to address concerns and help with lab reports
