An essential part of graphic design is the underlying structure of posters, articles, letters, etc. To better understand this, we each chose an article and had to dissect it to uncover the structure behind it. The article I used was one from one of my favorite design magazines, Dwell. I dissected this article using the Adobe computer program, InDesign. I enjoyed being able to expand my knowledge of other programs, though I found it a bit confusing at first. It helped me visualize the structure that I otherwise would never notice. I now have a deeper appreciation for those who are able to create visually appealing layouts, as it is something I realize I have a difficult time with.
