When given the assignment to redefine the color wheel, my first idea was to create a pictorial color wheel using floral shapes. I decided on a floral composition because I am most appreciative of color when I see it in flowers. Therefore, I designed the primary colors to be the flowers, the secondary colors to be the blossoming flowers, and the tertiary colors to be the flower buds.
The medium I chose to use was watercolor paint because it has a certain softness to it, which I associate with flowers. The consequence of using this medium was that the white paper I used naturally appeared through my image because of the thin, liquid property of watercolor paint.
