Virginia Tech Newport News Center Celebrates Opening

On February 5, the Virginia Tech Newport News Center celebrated their opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted in partnership with the Hampton Roads Chamber and VA Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. With an estimated 70 attendees, the event showcased the newest Virginia Tech Commonwealth Campus Center to industry partners, economic development professionals, partner higher education institution and the general public.

The Virginia Tech Newport News Center, located in Tech Center Building One, offers graduate classes and professional development opportunities. In January, the center began hosting a career development academy for James City and York County employees, which allows participants to hear from speakers and receive mentorship. Beginning in fall 2020, students enrolled in Virginia Tech’s Professional Master of Business Administration program will participate in a hybrid class setup based in Newport News, Richmond and online.

The Tech Center Building One also includes Gather, a co-working space, ivWatch, a medical technology company and ITA International global support services firm focused on the maritime and coastal environments.

The Virginia Tech Newport News Center has a couple events coming up this month.
