…in Virginia economic development just took place. The budget passed in the session that just concluded supports important structural changes laid out in GO Virginia. This new approach will incentivize and fund thoughtful collaborative regional efforts to address various economic development issues. This is the first time in perhaps two decades that the state has moved this much initiative away from Richmond and to Virginia’s regions. What’s next? Some of that depends on leaders from all sectors in regions across Virginia starting a real conversation, not mediated by state government in the ways we are used to seeing.
