Mental Health Tip

Connect with nature by hiking. Natural beauty can distract the mind from problems and help you feel relaxed. Exposing yourself to nature makes you feel better emotionally and contributes to overall health and well-being.

Well-being Quote

Self-care and self-love are not selfish; they are a necessity.

“It’s not selfish to love yourself, take care of yourself, and to make your happiness a priority. It’s necessary.” -Mandy Hale

Mental Health Tip

Get in the habit of going for a walk with a friend. Exercise acts as a stress reliever but exercising regularly such as jogging or walking will decrease anxiety, increases confidence, and improves sleep quality.

Well-being Quote

“The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood. The best way to understand people is to listen to them.” – Ralph G. Nichols

Hokies, let’s listen to ourselves and others.

March 19th- World Sleep Day

Good Morning, Hokies! Today is World Sleep Day.  The World Sleep Society is using the slogan, “Healthy Sleep, Healthy Aging,” to promote the importance of healthy sleeping patterns. Here at Virginia Tech, Hokie Wellness hosts sleep workshops that promote sleep deprivation, sleeplessness, and sleep disturbances through sleep workshops. Well-being Quote

“Sometimes all a person wants is an empathetic ear; all he/she/they needs is to talk it out. Just offering a listening ear and an understanding heart for his/her/their suffering can be a big comfort.” – Roy T. Bennett

Part of the #VTBetterTogether campaign is listening to one another to form a community that is Better Together. This idea is marked by the phrase, “Let’s Listen,” meaning that providing a safe ear may help one feel heard. Part of the process is communicating your thoughts or hardships to someone you trust.

Well-being Day

Tomorrow, March 17th, is your third well-being day. Take this day to focus on your mental health and well-being! To spread happiness, share ideas on how to spend the day. Tomorrow, post photos of you enjoying your well-being day and use the hashtag #VTBetterTogether.
