Photos: Lots of patron love!
We love seeing patrons our lobbies, gallery spaces, and theatre. Last week, we hosted three nights of performances and free events in the Moss Arts Center as part of the Crooked Road Festival (March 19-23), AND we had an awesome exhibition opening for Aspects of the Self: Portraits of our Times on Friday, March 21, from 6-8 p.m. We had such a wide range of guests here in the Moss Arts Center, and we couldn’t have loved it more!
Take a look at some of these friendly, smiling faces. We might be biased (OK, OK; we are), but we think our patrons are the best around!

Moss Arts Center style: The Acting Company
We might be biased, but we think we’ve got some of the most stylish patrons around! Now that spring is finally thinking about making an appearance, our patrons are embracing spring-like colors (even though some winter temperatures–and with it, winter coats–may or may not seem unwilling to give up the ghost).
Check out some of the most stylish duds of the night from the performances by The Acting Company on Thursday, March 6, and Friday, March 7, 2014 (“Hamlet” and “Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead,” respectively).
Lillian shows off some innovation, using a necklace as a headband.
Even cooler temperatures can’t keep Ashley from feeling sunny.
Springy florals and peep toes.
And finally, the best accessory: the Art-tini from Personal Touch Catering!
Moss Arts Center style: Anderson & Roe
On Sunday, March 2, 2014, we enjoyed unseasonably warm temperatures–particularly welcome after the frigid and snowy winter we’ve had so far ( it’s just too bad that weather couldn’t stick around)! Our patrons–that’s you!–didn’t miss a beat and were sure to take advantage of the warmer temperatures when they came to enjoy Anderson & Roe, an energetic, young piano duo.
Check out our super stylish patrons:
Black and florals
Sunny yellow and a big bow
A brand, new suit
Moss Arts Center style: “The Miners’ Hymns”
We’re very excited to kick off a new photo essay project featuring some of the most stylish folks in Blacksburg and beyond: our patrons!
On Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, we presented The Miners’ Hymns, with special engagement opportunities from the Coal Mining Heritage Association of Montgomery County. Attendees enjoyed time in the lobby to connect with friends, check out the coal mining tailgate museum and artifacts, view our visual arts galleries, and more.
Here are just a few of the most stylish patrons of the night! We particularly loved the warm coats and the vibrant accessories.

This is just the first installment in the series; maybe we’ll snap your photo at the next performance! Coming up later this month is Joshua Bell on Friday, Feb. 14; Mike Daisey on Saturday, Feb. 22; and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra on Monday, Feb. 24.
Gala Photos: Celebrating our first season at the Moss Arts Center
On Saturday, April 26, 2014, we hosted an elegant evening of delicious food, great drinks, and exquisite music by Natalie Cole and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. Our Gala was our way of celebrating what has been a very successful inaugural season. Beyond celebrating, we wanted to thank all of you who have helped to get us here, and to that end: look what you’ve helped us accomplish!
University Relations shared some photos of this very special evening, including everything from the pre-concert reception to the welcoming remarks by President Charles Steger and our own Ruth Waalkes and the post-show reception with desserts of all sorts (three words: raspberry crème brûlée).

Did you attend the Gala? Tell us in the comments: what were your favorite parts? We’d also love to see YOUR photos from the night (we know you took them; you all looked too lovely not to snap at least a few). Share them with us on our Facebook page.
