Steven Holl
I have continued to write this book I came across Holl’s work with light.
Steven Holl is known for “buildings that satisfy the spirit as well as the eye”. His mastery of light and sequential spaces is astounding.
Such sculptural spaces are not the drive of this inquiry, but his belief in designing spaces for the spirit of a place is critical. He fuses this belief with a formal understanding of angles and mathematics to create vanishing points in his buildings and landscapes.
His works also explore pre-fabrication and module, in response to desired lighting conditions and cost. It is his mastery of all these different aspects that make what could be single-dimensional projects, multidimensional.
