what is design.

It’s been a semester since I became a design school student. I have thinking what is design and what does it means to be a designer.

Design is the solution to the problem. Designers find the best solution.

Design is the solution: Long time ago, people sat on the ground and they were not comfortable. Some people used sticks and made a chair. Then they want a soft chair they can rest in. They put cushions in it. Then there’s message chair with headphone and cup holders. All the people are designers and they solve the problems.

In comparison, industrial design is more human based major than others because the products will finally be interact with human. There are definitely a part that relate to nature and other animals but if it include marketing, it will include people. In this case, being a designer is like trying to solve a math problems the most convenient way. What factors should be considered, what elements should be thrown away and what should be beneficial are all in the equations. Designers are the ultimate problem solvers.
