Plastoform

Transition: movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another.

Plastoform is the melding of linear, planar, tectonic, and rotational forms. By using these previous forms, the objective of the exercise was to combine two or more of forms while developing ordering systems and elements of hierarchy.

My intent for this exercise was to combine the linear, tectonic, and rotational forms together, whilst creating a hard, yet crisp connection between the rotational and tectonic form. My other intent was to create balance throughout the plastoform.

The main challenge I had to deal with this exercise was maintaining the smoothness of the overall surface and making the butt-joint between the rotational form and the tectonic form to be as clear as possible. This last form study was very concentrated on smooth transitions, and it was strenuous to achieve that because it meant a lot of sanding had to be done, as well as applying and re-applying the body filler to get the right transition.
