About

AlI’m Alex, a junior political science and history student, and for the next couple of months, I will be maintaining this blog on twentieth century Russian history.

Starting with the final decades of imperial rule, I will try to work my way up to the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the early years of the Russian Federation.

The kolkhozy, after which I named this publication, were collective farms that made up a majority of the agricultural sector under the Soviet planned economy.

Similar to the men and women who spent many a season toiling over their assigned plots, helping to feed both themselves and their fellow countrymen, I plan on pooling whatever resources are available to me in order to contribute to my own understanding of this era and, hopefully, the mutual educational benefit of others.
