  • Deciding to use DisneyWiki

What i Did Why I Did It
Chose to use images almost exclusively found on Flickr Images on Flickr don’t create any copyright issues. There are plenty of pictures people have taken on The Little Mermaid Ride or of those characters during parades that I should be able to find all of the images that I need.
Started a FakeBook account The sooner I start working with the tool and using the greater my understanding will be and the better the finished product will be. Also, using FakeBook instead of making a real account takes out any legality issues that may have created, as well.
    Bookmarked

    DisneyWiki pages

I know the story of The Little Mermaid by heart, but I don’t know her birthday or her sisters names or other little details that would be found on a FaceBook page. This is a nice, easy way to have all of that information in one spot that I can continuously come back to.

I didn’t get a lot accomplished, I spent a lot of time worrying about what images I was going to use. I’ve mostly been trying to organize my thoughts, they’re kind of all over the place right now.

What I Did Why I Did It
Researched Fair Use for Disney images I’m using a Disney story for this project and I know that I’m not artistic enough to create my own images. Unfortunately I can’t find a clear cut answer on whether or not it’s okay to use a Disney image for a school project. I think as long as I cite the image and give credit to Disney I’ll be okay.
Searched for Little Mermaid images on Flickr I thought searching for images using the settings she gave us would provide me with images I could actually use for my project. I am more than aware that I can’t create my own images so I really need to find other images that I can use.
Found a Flickr user that had a variety of pictures of The Little Mermaid ride Because these images aren’t copyrighted I don’t need to worry about violating copyright law. There’s a variety of images that can be used as profile pictures for the characters and images from “important moments”. For instance, there’s plenty of images of the Coral Reef Band, so I could make an image album of a Coral Reef Concert.

What I Did Why I Did It
I found an online copy of the Grimm version of The Little Mermaid. Even though I much prefer the Disney version, and will probably pull more Disney details for my project, I thought it would be a good idea to include the original version of the story.
Decided to use the Disney movie as my second source I think this is the most commonly recognized version of the story, so I contemplated not using it. I ended up deciding that because this is the version I loved as a child I wanted to use it, anyway. I also realized most of my visuals will probably come from this version.
Made my final version the play. It took my a while to find the play online, but I thought it would offer a different viewpoint. I haven’t actually watched it yet so I don’t know how different it is from the movie, but it will be fun to find differences between the movie and play versions and decide which parts to use from each.

What I Did Why I Did It
I chose to use The Little Mermaid as the story for the Remix a Story assignment. The Little Mermaid was my favorite Disney movie as a child and I like the idea of taking it and making it something new.
Decided to use a Facebook page to follow the events of the story I think it makes the story more relevant to use social media to portray what’s happening. I also think it could be a challenge to try and take exact lines of dialogue and make them statuses or comments, but it’s a challenge that I think would be fun.
Considered also making Twitter pages for characters It gives a whole new dimension to show both Facebook and Twitter feeds for the story. You don’t Tweet what you put on Facebook and vice versa, so I think it would be interesting to explore how the characters would use each social media site.
