Before the OED, I was: a graduate student

Where are you from? Fairfax City, Virginia


What’s your favorite memory from the office?

Anytime Doris tells me a story.

What’s the best part of your work?

Meeting new people in the communities we work in.

Outside of work, what are your favorite things to do?

Run, read, anything outdoors.

Why did you choose your profession/what led you here to the OED?

I wanted to work to make a difference in communities and work with lots of different people.

If you could time travel, would you go to the past or the future?

The past, to meet old relatives.

What makes you happiest?

Good company and good wine.

If you could have dinner with any one person, living or dead, who would it be?

Eleanor Roosevelt because I have always looked up to her as a feminine leader.

Erica Corder

Erica Corder is the technical writer at the Office of Economic Development and is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Pylon. Corder grew up in different states across the U.S. and spent three years in Germany before eventually winding up at Virginia Tech. She graduted in May 2016 with a degree in English and political science, which she hopes to put to use after in a career in journalism.
