Reading Licklider: computer language is about steps and processes whereas humans are about goals (79). Makes me wonder if my frustration with technology generally is merely a language problem and if that’s true does that mean I don’t like the “process”; I’m goal oriented? As a writing teacher and a writer myself, we talk about composing processes all the time and that the end product comes about by understanding processes. Is it the same for computer programming? That is, do programmers/computer scientists see their work the way I see mine? I don’t like to write, but I like to have written.
